Frequently asked questions
Here are answers to common questions about our head spa services and treatments.
1. What exactly is a head spa?
A head spa is a deep cleanse + scalp massage designed to remove buildup, boost circulation, and keep your scalp healthy so your hair can grow strong.
2. How should I prepare for my visit?
Please arrive with your hair unbraided, detangled and any extensions removed for proper scalp assessment and cleansing.
3. Can I do a scalp detox if I have locs?
Yes! FRO has a special loc service that focuses on your scalp without disturbing your loc pattern.
4. Will I leave with wet hair?
This will depend on the service you select, though it is highly encouraged our loc clients receive a light heat dry at minimum to prevent damage from prolonged wetness.
5. What should I expect after my first visit?
A cleaner scalp, softer hair, and a refreshed feeling. Long-term results, like reduced shedding and improved scalp health, come with monthly visits.
6. How often should I come back?
Every 4 weeks is ideal to maintain scalp hygiene; it’s just like a facial, but for your scalp. For clients on treatment plans, the ideal frequency may vary.
7. How much is it? Our Signature Scalp Detox is $165, with specified pricing for hair drying, a natural wash and go style, and cleaning locs.
8. Can I bring a guest with me to my visit?
Our head spa services are private, one-on-one experiences designed to help you fully relax and unwind. For this reason, guests are not permitted to accompany you during your appointment. Additionally, children are not allowed to accompany unless they are receiving a service, as outlined in our building’s lease agreement.
9. What age is appropriate for the head spa service?
Our head spa services are designed for adults and mature teens seeking relaxation and scalp wellness. Guests must be at least 16 years old to receive a service, and minors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for check-in. We do not currently offer services for young children.
Please Note:
Like a traditional head spa, extensive hair styling options are not included. That is because the focus of this service is hygiene and care for your scalp and hair.
Please wait 7–10 days after any chemical treatment (relaxer, color, keratin, etc.) before booking your head spa service.
Contagious Conditions & Lice Exposure Policy
At FRO Head Spa, maintaining a clean, safe, and restorative environment is our top priority. To protect the wellbeing of all guests and uphold strict sanitation standards, services cannot be performed on anyone with an active contagious scalp or skin condition.

- Seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff-related inflammation)
- Psoriasis or sebopsoriasis
- Eczema or contact dermatitis
- Dry scalp or product buildup
- Alopecia (including areata, traction, and androgenic types)
- Folliculitis (if not open, infected, or draining)
- Sensitive or irritated scalp without infection These conditions are common and safe to treat.
The protocols at FRO Head Spa use soothing, anti-inflammatory actives and gentle scalp therapy to support barrier recovery and promote scalp wellness.
🚫 Contagious Conditions (Service Will Be Deferred)
The following conditions require rescheduling until treatment has been completed and the scalp has been medically cleared:
- Head lice (Pediculosis capitis)
- Ringworm of the scalp (Tinea capitis)
- Impetigo or infected sores
- Any open, oozing, or weeping lesions
- If you have recently been exposed to lice—or someone in your household has tested positive—please wait until all treatments are completed and the scalp is fully cleared before booking or attending your appointment. Clients who arrive with visible signs of lice or nits (eggs) will have their appointment rescheduled to allow time for treatment and proper sanitation.
